A lot of people are downsizing
these days, whether by choice or necessity. Having a smaller space presents
decorating and design challenges, about which misconceptions abound. The
number one misconception? That using white will make your space look larger.
Not so, say experts. Another mistaken belief is that less and smaller
furniture is the only option open to small-space owners. But decorating
limited space is more about placement of furnishings and careful color
usage.
Let's start with color. It may seem counterintuitive, but sharp, bright
colors work best in smaller spaces, with plenty of negative space between.
Experts also advise using splashes color in unexpected places like the
insides of bookcases, windowsills and radiators. Try picking one wall in
every room as your focal or accent wall and paint it a deeper color than the
other three.
When it comes to the kitchen, you can afford to go very bold. One hot trend
you've no doubt noticed is the deep red kitchen. Another room people tend to
go neutral is the bathroom, but this is another place you can have fun with
color.
Here are more tips to make the most of your small space:

On two occasions I had the
honor of spending time in the company of George Simmons, President of B.
F. Rich Windows & Doors. The first time I visited I took part in a tour
and attended a meeting to discuss how B. F. Rich benefits the community.
The second meeting was by my request because I was so impressed by what
I had learned and observed initially. I wanted to fill in the blanks and
find out more about this enigmatic, old school gentleman and the history
and vision of the company.
There is so much to impart and I truly want to do it justice. When I
first went there I thought I knew about B. F. Rich, and to some extent I
did. For example, I knew that they were a local company that produced a
superior product. I knew that everyone I had met who worked there
genuinely took pride in what they did. What I learned was that everyone
who works there in any capacity feels that way. As we toured the plant
and each step in the process was explained

The League of American Bicyclists is proud to announce 16 new Bicycle Friendly Communities (BFC), five renewing BFCs and 19 Honorable Mentions. As we have seen in the last few cycles, the majority of the new BFCs are in the East and Midwest – three quarters of the awarded communities are east of the Mississippi River. Additionally, two new states now have designated BFCs: Newark, Del. and Simsbury, Conn. "Communities from all areas of the country, climates and populations see bicycling as an integral component of building livable communities. The Bicycle Friendly Community program is recognizing those leading the way", ...continued

I
had the privilege of attending the “Grand Opening of The Wilmington
Organic Recycling Center (WORC), one of the many celebrations that
marked the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in Delaware. Shawn Gavin who
attributed his dedication to the environment to the passion of his son
Dylan and Chris Coons both made comments that reminded me of an old
Kenyan Proverb that says “ Treat the Earth Well. It was not given to
you by your parents; it was loaned to you by your children” For those of
you who are not familiar with WORC, it is a shining example of the
private sector reaching out to a community and effecting a change that
will have long term benefits to us all. It is also yet another feather
in Delaware’s cap as a leader in environmental initiatives.
The Wilmington Organic Recycling Center, one of the Newest, Most State of The Art,large Scale Commercial Food and Yard Waste Composting Facilities in North America is the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic region. Basically, what they do is take food and yard waste from large waste generators like schools, hospitals, restaurants and supermarkets , compost them and it into usable compost that can be sold in the retail and agribusiness markets. In doing so they they reduce the amount of waste that sent to landfills that turns ...continued
