Green Drinks at Aqua Sol August 3rd

Come out and meet the Go Bare Report Twins
Good Green Girl and Toxic Tammy

This Tuesday (August 3, 2010) we will be retuning to Aqua Sol Restaurant at the Summit North Marina in Bear for Green Drinks. Voted Best Of Delaware for “Best Waterfront Dining,” it is my favorite place to unwind. Nestled on the banks of the C& D Canal it has the flavor and atmosphere of being on an island.

The Miami Style cuisine created by co-owner and Chef Extraordinaire Jessica Busz, is, as the phrase goes “indescribably delicious! “ As all who know me will attest, I am unabashedly addicted to the Conch Fritters. By far the best I have ever had this side of Bimini. The menu is varied including everything from Lobster Mac and Cheese ...continued

GREEN BUILDING & DESIGN

B. F. Rich “Hoping to help save the planet one window at a time.”
by Christine K. LaMonica

On Tuesday, July 6th, I had the pleasure of touring B. F. Rich’s manufacturing site in Newark, Delaware for a second time. As many of you know, I toured the sight of this 53 year old company earlier this year but I wanted the opportunity to do so again and to chat with some of the people who worked there. Two hours and 21 pages of notes later I walked out even more impressed than I was initially.

I will now attempt to recount the most pertinent information as it regards consumers. My first impressions about B. F. Rich were positively reinforced by my second visit. I had the opportunity to talk to Terry Rex, Darryl Huber and Chris Lorber for a while before I started the actual tour. They explained that in 2008 the company made a commitment to roll out their Green Shield energy efficient products that were at an affordable premium. The priority was to figure out how to manufacture windows and doors that exceeded Government Standards on saving energy while showing a measurable return on their customer’s investment. They began by looking at all the technology they could incorporate into their manufacturing process and decided to offer their product at a reduced cost “to contribute to the right cause which is national energy conservation".

They have accomplished that and today the “Green Shield” option package far exceeds Government and Energy Star standards. All of their products are tested ...continued
